Purpose:Learn about the hardware inside a laptop or a desktop.

Ideally select a computer that does not work so that you can safely give it to the children to handle.

  • Windows laptop/desktop.

    • Description

    Open a desktop and laptop and show them the various parts in it like hard-disk/SSD, memory, SMPS, motherboard, processor, cooling fan etc. Show them the similarity between the computers and explain to them the role played by various components. Show them the connectors through which various components talk to each other.

    • Teacher Instructions
    1. Explain the activity before starting the class.
    2. Show the children a print out of the hardware pictures.
    3. If possible allow the children to touch and handle the various things in the computer.
    4. Use technical names hard-disk/SSD, memory, SMPS, motherboard, processor, cooling fan etc.
    5. At the end of the class explain to the children what they did in this activity.
